Contributing to Japan’s Future Energy
Supporting offshore wind power generation with submarine power cables.
Renewable energy is essential for preventing global warming and achieving a decarbonized society.
In Japan, an island nation surrounded by seas, there is high hope for offshore wind power generation.
The key to its widespread adoption lies in submarine power cables.
SEKIKAIJI’s turn to shine with its special skills, including laying and burying technology and equipment.
Firmly supporting Japan’s future energy from the bottom of the sea.
In collaboration with various organizations, including the National Research and Development Agency, we are actively engaged in developing new technologies and improving the efficiency of construction work.

SDGs Initiatives
Connect to the future and bonds through submarine cables.
As part of its SDGs activities, SEKIKAIJI focuses on “connect the future and bonds through submarine cables,” undertaking the following initiatives:
-
Providing Electricity and Water to Remote Islands
-
- Our efforts to supply electricity and water to remote islands through submarine cables improve living conditions and promote economic development on the islands. By providing clean, accessible energy and sustainable management of water resources, we contribute to environmental conservation and thoughtful consideration for the future, taking a step towards the prosperity and sustainable development of island communities.
-
-
Contributing to Decarbonization
-
- Submarine cables are a core element of sustainable energy infrastructure. By providing efficient energy supply and resource utilization, they reduce carbon emissions and lessen environmental impact. These efforts promote sustainable marine use, playing a crucial role in deepening future considerations and bonds.
-
-
Creating a Comfortable Working Environment
-
- The health and safety of employees involved in submarine cable construction are our top priorities, and significant efforts are made to ensure workplace safety. At the same time, we promote skill enhancement and career development for our workforce, supporting sustainable economic growth. This initiative aims to create a comfortable working environment, deepen our contribution to the future, and strengthen bonds.

SEKIKAIJI/SEKINAKA <Awaji Brave Oceans> Support Declaration
Sekikaiji/Sekinaka support the regional revitalization project promoted by Awaji City through women's baseball, and they cheer for the Awaji Brave Oceans. Specifically, we are implementing an employment model that allows players on the team to dedicate themselves to baseball and In 2023, we presented a vehicle for the team to use on their tours and other travels.

As part of our support, we have the opportunity to observe the team's practice sessions. Seeing the team members practicing energetically inspires us and gives us new motivation.
Additionally, we are delighted to see that the vehicle we donated is being actively used. Sekikaiji/Sekinaka hope to continue supporting the team's success and achievements in the future.

Sekikaiji/Sekinaka, in collaboration with Awaji Brave Oceans, have created a video titled "Connect to the future and bonds through submarine cables".
With determination and pride, we are making significant contributions towards realizing a decarbonized society (Carbon Neutral 2050) through our core offshore wind power generation projects. Our progress is inseparable from our connection with the local community and our bonds with the region. We will advance together, coexisting and prospering with the community.

Local elementary schoolchildren came to visit the installation construction site!
While the cable-laying barge “Asahi” was in the operation of submarine water pipeline laying, local elementary schoolchildren visited us.
They toured the operation room where the ship was controlled and the laying deck and experienced attaching protective tubes. However, the most popular activity was controlling the underwater robot, which sparked great interest and excitement among everyone.

Car Wash AROTCO
Used as storage and workspace under the name SEKIKAIJI Matsuho Warehouse, it became vacant land with the operation start of Tsuna Depot in 2014 and has since been utilized by local companies as a storage site for construction machinery and materials for road construction and other purposes.
Awaji Island has many coastal roads, especially the west coast road in winter, which suffers from vehicles being splashed by overtopping waves and salt damage to the chassis, which has been a concern.
Hoping to alleviate even one of the local community’s concerns, we decided to open a car wash to contribute more to the local area.
*The car wash AROTCO is operated by SEKINAKA.

Connecting the Community Where It All Began —
Sekikaiji 120th Anniversary with "I-waya" Event in Iwaya! To commemorate its 120th anniversary, Sekikaiji hosted a one-day community event called “I-waya” in Iwaya, the company’s birthplace, as an expression of gratitude to the local residents who have supported us over the years.
The event took place on the site of our former headquarters—a location of deep significance to us. With the generous cooperation of local food shops, the venue was filled with heartfelt offerings such as traditional Japanese sweets and bento meals. Sekikaiji purchased these products at retail price and offered them to visitors at 50% of that price. This allowed attendees not only to enjoy shopping at great value, but also to engage in a new form of social contribution, as their purchases directly supported local welfare efforts.

On the day of the event, members of the women’s baseball team Awaji Brave Oceans volunteered their time and energy to help liven up the atmosphere. Their participation made the event even more vibrant and also provided a valuable opportunity for the team to connect with the local community and raise awareness of their activities. It was a meaningful day that deepened ties between the team and the region.
All proceeds from the event were donated to the Awaji City Council of Social Welfare and Butta Welfare Association, supporting the ongoing efforts of organizations dedicated to local welfare.
This event served as a renewed expression of our commitment to being a company that grows alongside the community. For local shops as well, it became an opportunity to form new connections and expand future possibilities, making the day meaningful and fruitful for everyone involved.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who supported and participated in the event.
Sekikaiji will continue to move forward with deep appreciation for our community and a strong commitment to building a sustainable society.
