Contributing to Japan’s Future Energy

Supporting offshore wind power generation with submarine power cables.

Renewable energy is essential for preventing global warming and achieving a decarbonized society.
In Japan, an island nation surrounded by seas, there is high hope for offshore wind power generation.
The key to its widespread adoption lies in submarine power cables.
SEKIKAIJI’s turn to shine with its special skills, including laying and burying technology and equipment.
Firmly supporting Japan’s future energy from the bottom of the sea.
In collaboration with various organizations, including the National Research and Development Agency, we are actively engaged in developing new technologies and improving the efficiency of construction work.

In 2021, SEKIKAIJI Industry participated in Japan’s first commercial large-scale offshore wind power project at Akita Port and Noshiro Port. We completed the laying and burying of submarine cables that transmit electricity from all 33 wind turbines to land without any accidents or disasters.

SDGs Initiatives

Connect to the future and bonds through submarine cables.

As part of its SDGs activities, SEKIKAIJI focuses on “connect the future and bonds through submarine cables,” undertaking the following initiatives:

  • Providing Electricity and Water to Remote Islands

affordable and clean energy sustainable cities and communities life below water
Our efforts to supply electricity and water to remote islands through submarine cables improve living conditions and promote economic development on the islands. By providing clean, accessible energy and sustainable management of water resources, we contribute to environmental conservation and thoughtful consideration for the future, taking a step towards the prosperity and sustainable development of island communities.
  • Contributing to Decarbonization

industry, innovation and infrastructure responsible consumption and production life blow water
Submarine cables are a core element of sustainable energy infrastructure. By providing efficient energy supply and resource utilization, they reduce carbon emissions and lessen environmental impact. These efforts promote sustainable marine use, playing a crucial role in deepening future considerations and bonds.
  • Creating a Comfortable Working Environment

good health and well-being decent work and economic growth partnership for goals
The health and safety of employees involved in submarine cable construction are our top priorities, and significant efforts are made to ensure workplace safety. At the same time, we promote skill enhancement and career development for our workforce, supporting sustainable economic growth. This initiative aims to create a comfortable working environment, deepen our contribution to the future, and strengthen bonds.

As a corporation, we support the Awaji Brave Oceans, a women’s baseball club team based in Awaji City, our local community.
We are implementing an employment model that allows players on the team to dedicate themselves to baseball.
In 2023, we presented a vehicle for the team to use on their tours and other travels.

Local elementary schoolchildren came to visit the installation construction site!

While the cable-laying barge “Asahi” was in the operation of submarine water pipeline laying, local elementary schoolchildren visited us.
They toured the operation room where the ship was controlled and the laying deck and experienced attaching protective tubes. However, the most popular activity was controlling the underwater robot, which sparked great interest and excitement among everyone.

Car Wash AROTCO

Used as storage and workspace under the name SEKIKAIJI Matsuho Warehouse, it became vacant land with the operation start of Tsuna Depot in 2014 and has since been utilized by local companies as a storage site for construction machinery and materials for road construction and other purposes.
Awaji Island has many coastal roads, especially the west coast road in winter, which suffers from vehicles being splashed by overtopping waves and salt damage to the chassis, which has been a concern.
Hoping to alleviate even one of the local community’s concerns, we decided to open a car wash to contribute more to the local area.
